Key words: Embroidery, Woven patches.

Items embroidered and woven are very similar. They can’t be distinguished if not inspected very carefully. Both are made by thread & fabric, and can be attached on clothing and accessories.

Customers ask: I would like to add logos on our jackets and jerseys, which ones should we choose: Embroidery or woven?

Our answers:

1) Purpose

First, what are your logos for? Will they be on jerseys, t-shirts or for collecting? Woven patches/labels are lightweight. They are usually attached onto jerseys as well as care labels on the inside of t-shirts. If you’re into collecting, consider embroidered patches over woven ones, as they have thicker layered details. Embroideries feel great to the touch and are rich in texture.

2) Design & Size

As mentioned in “Differences”, woven patches’ details show better than embroidered ones of equally large sizes. Sometimes, your embroidery designs require enlarging to show intricate details/designs. However, if you don’t like large sizes, then drop embroidery for weaving =) If you wish to make a LARGE design, as big as an A4 painting or bigger, choose embroidery instead – woven designs can’t be overblown.

3) Budget

Honestly, embroideries are better suited as collectibles, for they are better at showing layers of beautiful threads. Thus, embroidery cost higher than weaving. We’d recommend you choose embroidery if you sell collectibles; whereas woven patches are more preferable on clothing of larger quantities (500 pieces or more).

4) Preference

It’s either up to you or your customers : )

Sometimes, we just like something for no reason. Some people like thick patches, others like thin ones. More power to you.

Whether it’s embroidered & woven patches (or our other products), if you would like to see them in hand, simply email me, and I’ll send you samples.

5) Alternatives

Besides embroidery & weaving, we also have other options to make your logos and designs. If you sell shoes as well, then our SILICONE patches/labels are the best choice for you. They can double as jacket pullers too.

If you sell moto/flight jackets, then you will LOVE our TPU patches – they are PERFECT!!!!!
